This has been a rather long project in the making but a satisfying one now that it is done. For a recap HERE and HERE are a couple of the previous posts about it's construction. As I mentioned in those posts this was a table base that was part of a dining room table that I had no room for and decided to scrap. My son and I used paint remover to strip all the paint off the base and later we found a nice unfinished table top at a garage sale.

The base and the table top are all made of pine and so are the pieces that make up the checkered gaming board inset in the middle. In the last post about the table HERE, Otto Jr. and I cut the gaming area squares out of pine finishing board and stained half of them with dark Minwax Jacobean wood stain. The other half of the squares and the entire table were then clear coated with a Minwax high gloss polyurethane coating.
We attached the top of the table to the base with three 1/4 inch diameter wood dowel's that are glued into holes in both the base and the table top. To make sure that it stays in place we reinforced the table to base connection with a couple of angled corner braces underneath.
All that is left to do now is play a game on it!!!
